Apr 17, 2018Freeland, 79, of Celina, Ohio, passed away on Jan. 18, 2018, at 1:30 a.m. in CHP Inpatient Hospice Center, Van Wart, Ohio.He was born March 16, 1938, in Elizabeth to the late Floyd and Blanche (Bain) Freeland.On Feb. 16, 1962, he married the love of his life, Marilyn (Petrie) Freeland, and she survives at the residence in Celina, Ohio.Other survivors include a daughter, Tammy (Jeff) Pontsier of Rockford, Ohio; three brothers, Roger (Judy) Freeland of Mendon, Ohio, Larry Long of Clermont, Ga., and John Long of Kentucky; three sisters, Sue DeVall of Celina, Ohio, Jean (Dick) Courtney of Rockford, Ohio, and Wanda Freeland of Celina, Ohio; a daughter-in-law, Lynne Freeland of Van Wert, Ohio; grandchildren Scott and Stephen Pontsier, and Alexa and Katlyn Freeland; and great-grandchildren Greyson, Gavin and Paxton Pontsier.He is also preceded in death by a son, Anthony Freeland, and a sister, Janet Schaffer.Ron was a 1956 graduate of Tunnelton High School in West Virginia. He served his country in the U.S. Army. He worked at New Idea in Coldwater, Ohio, for many years and retired from Teleflex in Van Wert, Ohio, after 18 years of service.He was an active member of Bethany United Methodist Church in Celina, Ohio.Ron was a down-to-earth and very well-liked man. He enjoyed playing dartball, golfing, and most of all, spending time with his family and friends.Visitation was held Sunday, Jan. 21, at Cisco Funeral Home in Celina, Ohio. Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 22, at Bethany United Methodist Church with Rev. Jon Exman officiating. The family received friends prior to the service at the church.
